Audible, Last, Location, files, played, remember, won't

Question by fay_chai_kai: Why does Audible files can remember the last played location but other files won't?

I am using Creative Zen MP3 player. Sometime I stop playing an Audible and listen to something else, when I come back to the Audible file, the player resume at the exact point I last stopped. However, this does not apply to any other audio file, the all restart from the beginning. What is the different with the Audible file?

That's a pretty common feature in mp3 players. Ipods do the same thing. It's not that there's something special in the file that allows this, but the mp3 player is designed to preserve the last location in any file that it knows to be an audio book.

It may be possible to use third-party software to flag a regular mp3 as an audio book to get the same behavior, but I've never done it with a Zen.
